WILL DOGS CHASE CATS IN HEAVEN: PEOPLE, PETS, AND WILD ANIMALS IN THE AFTERLIFE

“Will our pets and wild animals greet us in Heaven?” This is a question millions of pet owners and wildlife advocates would like to have answered. After carefully researching this topic, I’ve concluded the answer can be a confident YES!

If you’re looking for another sentimental treatment of the topic, this book is not for you. But if you would like to read a book that is thoroughly researched and, I believe, consistent with Biblical revelation, Will Dogs Chase Cats in Heaven? is the book for you. I include many of my personal experiences as well as anecdotal stories from novelists, popular animal researchers, and pet owners. It also includes testimonies from well-known theologians and scholars, such as C.S. Lewis, John Calvin, Peter Kreeft, and others, who believe in the probability of animals inhabiting Heaven with God’s people. Click on “description” below for a summary.

“A powerful case for animal immortality, well-researched and written.”  Theologian & Scholar Dr. John Warwick Montgomery

Available paperback and Kindle l

Also now available:

A revised and expanded of DEFENDING YOUR FAITH; RELIABLE ANSWERS FOR A NEW GENERATION OF SEEKERS AND SKEPTICS  (Kregel Publications) includes the apologetic chapters in the original book but expanded to include updated information. It also includes additional chapters to counter new challenges from evolutionary biology, the so-called “new” atheism, and postmodernism.

The first edition of Defending Your Faith has been my most popular apologetic book for more than two decades and reprinted several times. It’s endorsed by the late Elliot Miller,  editor-in-chief of the Christian Research Journal, theologian R. C. Sproul, and other well-known Christian apologists.

This revised, updated, expanded version is written for personal study as well as for apologetic classes in Bible colleges, home Bible studies, and senior youth groups. Although written for a general audience, as Dr. Rod Rosenbladt, retired Professor of Systematic Theology and Christian Apologetics, pointed out, Defending Your Faith is “meaty enough to challenge the educated skeptic.” This makes Defending Your Faith an excellent book for non-Christian readers willing to investigate the evidence for Christianity.

  1. I would like to be added to your blog email if I could. I purchased your book and it was the best that I have read about the topic. I lost my 17 year old pug recently and have been having a really tough time. May god bless you and yours.

    1. Thanks, Marmel, for your kind and encouraging words. And I am sorry about the loss of your canine friend. It was a blessing that he (or she?) lived for 17 years. I’m pleased that my book about pets and other animals in Heaven was helpful during your loss. I have added you to my blog email list. Although I’ve been on hiatus for several months – after posting weekly blogs for more than nine years – I am working on a new series and hope to begin posting after the first of the year. I always appreciate honest reviews on Amazon if you have the time.

      Blessings,
      Dan

    2. Hi Marmel, we also lost our beloved dog, Micca, two weeks ago and it hit me really hard. I never knew that I have such a huge capacity to love that the pain has been unbearable. What comforts me is the thought that one day we will see her again in heaven.

      1. I am so sorry for your loss. May the Lord help heal your broken heart. So glad there are people like me who love their pets fully.

    1. I’m sorry for your loss and know from experience several times how hard it is. I will continue to post blogs on this topic, probably for the next couple of months. If you like, I can add you to my blog email list so you will get reminded with a link when I post a new blog. If you like, you can order my book, on which this blog series is based. It has much more detailed information than I can put on blogs. Go to my home page and you can read a brief summary of the book or a more detailed summary by clicking on “description” below the cover photo.

      1. Hi Dan – don’t know if you remember me !!??
I was friends with Nancy from childhood !!
I have early stage dementia now, and don’t remember a lot of things ……. don’t even remember if she is still alive …….. hope all is well with you !!
        Take Care ……. Penni

        1. Of course, I remember you – and Judy too. I have fond memories of you, Nancy, and Judy watching Elvis Presley on the Ed Sullivan show when we all lived in Garden Grove. Nancy is still alive (will turn 80 on the 22nd) and apparently has early-stage dementia too. She is living in an assisted living facility in San Marcos. Things are well with Lisa and me, although experiencing the unavoidable fallout of getting older.

          1. Hi – sorry, just saw this !!!
Glad to hear that you and Lisa are doing well !!
            So are Rodger and I …… we’ve been together 60+ years !!! (I’m 81 and he’s 83) Doesn’t seem possible !!
You don’t live that far from us – we live in Clairemont Mesa !!! Maybe we could meet in Old Town or ???? Just a thought …..
would love to see Nancy !!!

          2. Old age has a way of sneaking up on us. I turned 77 on the first of June. Not many people in this day and age can boast of 60 years of marriage. Wonderful! Lisa and I were married when we were both nineteen. That makes us (if I added correctly) 58 years this October! As a friend of mine once said, “Growing old is not for sissies!” Amen to that! Glad you and Roger are doing well. I know Nancy would enjoy getting together, so the next time I see her I’ll ask if she is up to it. We don’t get together as often as we used to, but we have a family get-to-gather at her daughter’s (Kerry) house next month, and I’ll see her then.

          3. Hi Penni! I don’t know if you remember me either. I’m the Step Mom to Nancy and Gary’s kids! We met several times. I love the Kress family and friends! And Nancy and I always felt blessed to be “wife in laws!” And Dan – bless his heart – came to the hospital — and led Gary to the Lord – shortly before Gary died. We all miss him so!!! Congratulations on your long term marriage! It’s an awesome accomplishment! And hang in there with the “aging” challenges! My Poppa used to say (like Dan) that “Aging is not for Whimps!” ❤️

          4. Gary was always more like a brother than a brother-in-law. I still think about him and miss him. One of my fondest memories before Gary and Nancy were married was watching the Andy Griffith TV show with Gary. A small thing but important and memorable to me. He was a wonderful guy and friend, and I look forward to seeing him in Heaven.

  2. Dear Dan,

Please tell me why Barnes and Nobles is having a problem ordering me a copy of your book entitled “Defending Your Faith.” They told me to order it online, but each time I try to order it, they want a password, but I have no idea what password to use. No matter what password I type in, it will not not work.

    Thanks,

    Weeks Parker

  3. I lost several a l pets 20/21 & about put me in a deep depression, this idea gives me hope. I’d love to get your book

    1. I know exactly what it is like to lose a beloved pet. In fact, it helped motivate me
to write my book. It has comforted many hundreds of people, and I pray it will do so for you too.

  4. Thank you Dan for valuing the creation (“Will our pets and wild animals greet us in Heaven?” and an outstanding effort to stand for the faith.

I am from the Philippines. I am glad to be connected with you.
